Sep 10, 2010 · I forgot about vmware and virtualbox and tried qemu. This also emulates the cpu and you can adjust much more hardware settings than with vmware. The only problem is that it crashes all times, even with a valid windows iso the vm just turns off. But I can set it to emulate a core 2 duo so I thing if I can solve the crashes then osx will run.

I want to join this new SR650 server with Intel Gold 6134 cpu, into my current VMware cluster that is running Westmere EVC mode. The new server is running VMware ESXi, 6.5.0, 6765664. Other servers run VMware ESXi, 5.5.0, 5230635 vSphere 6.5
VMware resource pool: A VMware resource pool is the aggregated physical compute hardware -- CPU and memory , as well as other components -- allocated to virtual machines ( VMs ) in a VMware virtual infrastructure.
In this case, Eng-Prod VM will receive 66% of the Engineering pool CPU shares, not the total number of CPU shares on the ESXi host. For example. if we create another resource pool and assign 1000 CPU shares to it, the total number of CPU shares available for VMs in the Engineering pool will be reduced.

VMware DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler) is a utility that balances computing workloads with available resources in a virtualized environment. The utility is part of a virtualization suite called VMware Infrastructure 3 .
The parent pool distributes resources among its child pools based on the number of CPU or memory shares the child pool has relative to the parent pool’s other child pools. Shares are assigned to resource pools and VMs by setting a share level (see Fig. 1). Share levels can be set to Custom, Low, Normal (default), or High.
VirtualBox is a powerful x86 and AMD64/Intel64 virtualization product for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL) version 2.

To back up VMs, it leverages VMware vSphere snapshot capabilities. When you back up a VM, Veeam Backup & Replication requests VMware vSphere to create a VM snapshot. The VM snapshot can be thought of as a cohesive point-in-time copy of a VM including its configuration, OS, applications, associated data, system state and so on.
